Surprise traffic

Surprise is one of the Northwest Valley’s largest and fastest-growing cities. Grand Avenue (US-60) runs diagonally along its eastern side next to a freight rail line, the Loop 303 runs north–south through the city, and Bell Road is its main east–west commercial corridor.

Bell Road’s retail stretch sees many rear-end and turning crashes. Grand Avenue’s rail crossings and angled intersections add risk, and spring training at Surprise Stadium brings seasonal visitors. Large retirement communities nearby mean many older drivers and pedestrians, whose injuries can be more serious.

Care and the local court center

Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center in nearby Sun City West and other West Valley hospitals serve Surprise residents. Get evaluated promptly and keep every record.

The Maricopa County Superior Court’s Northwest Regional Center is at 14264 W Tierra Buena Ln in Surprise.

Older adults and injury claims

Surprise and nearby communities are home to many retirees. Older adults can recover from injuries more slowly, and Medicare often has reimbursement rights out of any settlement. We handle Medicare and other liens so that your settlement is final and accurate, and we explain the numbers clearly before you decide.

What the law means for your claim

Arizona’s general deadline for injury claims is two years (A.R.S. § 12-542). If a city, county or state entity is involved, a notice of claim is due within 180 days and the lawsuit within one year (A.R.S. §§ 12-821.01, 12-821). Arizona uses pure comparative fault (A.R.S. § 12-2505), so your recovery is reduced by your share of fault but not eliminated by it.

Lawsuits are filed in the Maricopa County Superior Court, whose main courthouses are on Jefferson Street in downtown Phoenix, a few minutes from our office. Most claims resolve through negotiation, but we prepare each case as though it could be tried.

Questions

Frequently asked

Your office is in Phoenix. Is that a problem?

No. Most clients never need to come in. Phone, text and e-signature handle the work, and we can meet when it helps.

An older family member was hurt. Are their damages different?

Damages depend on the injuries and losses, not age, but older adults may face longer recovery. We document that carefully.

What does it cost to talk to you?

Nothing. We work on contingency: no attorney’s fees unless we recover compensation for you.

Do you have Spanish-speaking staff?

Yes. Se habla español.
