Freight corridors and commuters
Goodyear is in the Southwest Valley, along I-10 where it meets the Loop 303. Estrella Parkway, Litchfield Road and MC-85 are major local routes. Warehouses and distribution centers along I-10 and the Loop 303 put many tractor-trailers on the road alongside commuters.
Truck crashes are different from car crashes. Federal safety rules, company policies, driver logs and onboard data can all matter, and that evidence needs to be preserved quickly. A letter asking the company to preserve records is often one of our first steps.
Care and the regional court
Abrazo West Campus in Goodyear and other West Valley hospitals serve the area. Get checked promptly, especially after a crash with a large vehicle, where injuries can be serious.
The Maricopa County Superior Court’s Southwest Regional Court Center is in nearby Avondale (10420 W Van Buren St).
Warehouse and workplace injuries
Goodyear’s distribution centers employ many people. Injuries at work are usually handled through workers’ compensation, but if someone other than your employer caused the injury, such as a third-party driver or an equipment maker, you may also have an injury claim against them. We can tell you which applies and how the two interact.
What the law means for your claim
Arizona’s general deadline for injury claims is two years (A.R.S. § 12-542). If a city, county or state entity is involved, a notice of claim is due within 180 days and the lawsuit within one year (A.R.S. §§ 12-821.01, 12-821). Arizona uses pure comparative fault (A.R.S. § 12-2505), so your recovery is reduced by your share of fault but not eliminated by it.
Lawsuits are filed in the Maricopa County Superior Court, whose main courthouses are on Jefferson Street in downtown Phoenix, a few minutes from our office. Most claims resolve through negotiation, but we prepare each case as though it could be tried.
